The Secret Types of Food That Double as Aphrodisiacs
Sexual wellness and wellbeing is often a mental and emotional issue as much as it is a physical one. Getting ‘in the mood’ for sex can be extremely important, and there are lots of things that you can try that will help to improve your libido. One of these is foods – there are certain foods that have an aphrodisiac-like effect on the libido.
First up is the very sexy vegetable asparagus. OK so you may not have thought of it as sexy until now, but trust us, it is. This vegetable is actually a member of the lily family, and has been used in France since the 19th century as a natural aphrodisiac. Ginger was often added to help stimulate the circulatory system and get blood flowing to the genitals.
Almonds can also be used, as they are high in magnesium, vitamin E and fibre – plus the aroma of almonds is said to arouse passion and desire in women.
Bananas, with their slightly phallic shape, are also used. These fruits are high in potassium and appear in many myths and legends.
Basil is frequently used for the power that it has on the circulatory system. It is also said to be a great cure for headaches – so it can totally remove your standard ‘excuse’ for not having sex!
Chocolate truffles are a natural source of serotonin, plus of course truffles are a very sexy delicacy, and lovers can feed them to one another with their hands to get them in the mood.
Garlic, believe it or not, also makes it onto the list. It may make your breath a bit smelly, but as long as you are only kissing each other then it may be worth adding it to the menu for the effect that it has to cure the common cold and get the heart pumping strongly.
