How can I prevent a Tick Bite?
The ailment, Lyme disease is an infection that is caused by a specific bacterium called Borrelia burgdorferi. This infection is believed to be transmitted to humans, through the bite of an infected tick.
Lyme disease treatment includes a round of oral antibiotics that can last from three to four weeks or longer. After going through the treatment, patients may need additional care for ‘Post Lyme Disease Syndrome’ (PLDS).
Nutritious Diet also plays an important role for cure of this infection. Vitamin C heals wounds, contributes to the formation of cells, tissues, teeth and bones and boost the individual’s immune system. Drinking orange juice can be a very good way to give the body a boost in the morning with this essential ingredient.
The first symptom of the disease may be a rash that appears near the bite of the infected tick. However, simply experiencing a tick bite does not mean that the individual will automatically contract the infection. The rashes do not appear immediately after the tick bite. There may be a gap of about a month after the tick bite and appearance of the rash. The rash will appear at the site of the tick bite and will spread in a circular manner for many days. The growth of skin rash may be around twelve inches in diameter or more. As the rash clears up, it may leave a large red circle.
The symptoms of Lyme Disease may be a bit confusing. Often these symptoms may be confused with other ailments. All patients with the tick bite do not experience the rashes. Around 70 to 80 per cent of the patients who contract the infection will notice the rash. In some patients, tick bite may not appear. If not treated in time, the infection will spread to other parts of the body and cause damage.
