How To Tell How Healthy You Are
Being healthy isn’t one singular thing, to be healthy you have to have and be all sorts of things and as such there’s normally at least one way in which everyone could improve. Most of us don’t need or want to be absolutely 100% healthy, we don’t want out every meal to consist of celery and the idea of running miles every day sends a PE reminiscent shiver down our collective spines. However, not wanting to become the healthiest men and women in the world doesn’t mean we can’t be a little bit healthier and to do that we need to know just how healthy our lifestyle and bodies are. There are several factors to take into account.
Weight is a fairly good indicator of our overall level of health. Being too big or, alternately too little can show that we’re not being as healthy as we should be. It’s important to strike a balance and eat the right amount for ourselves; too much can lead to obesity and too little can lead to malnutrition. All things in moderation, we need little bits of most things to survive. Fat and sugar have their place in our diets as much as vitamins and minerals do.
Fitness isn’t the same as health. You can have a standard BMI and still get out of breath walking up the stairs, it all depends on how much exercise you do and how regularly you do it. Things like smoking can help to lower your level of fitness and make exertion much more taxing for you.
Diet and what you’re putting into your body is a great way to see how healthy you are. If you picture all of the food you’d eat in a week, how much of it is going to be fast food and snacks and how much of it is going to be natural, unprocessed meat or vegetables? Are you getting a balance of all the things you need to survive or are you pigging out on sweets and snacks instead?
