Would You Lose Weight If Your Mayor Did it With You?

The people in charge are meant to look out for your wellbeing, and in Redditch that means watching your weight. The mayor and mayoress of Redditch are planning to lose weight in order to encourage others to do the same and raise money for good causes.

By the time the mayoral year ends in May, Alan Mason and his wife Nina plan to drop three stone between them, and as an added incentive the pair have decided to swap their lbs for pounds, by getting sponsorship and raising money for the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and Child Alert UK. Mayor Mason has claimed that a Conservative councillor had already offered him £1 for every lb he loses.

He explained, ‘It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for ages but now seems like a good time to do it. Although I don’t eat processed food I know I’ve been eating the wrong things so this is a chance to set an example to everyone about the importance of eating healthily’.

The Masons’ sponsored slimmathon is also being done in order to encourage others to do the same, and the couple has invited everyone to join them in their efforts. They have asked that anyone who wants to join in or donate to their cause should contact the Mayor’s office. For the Mayor and his wife, who get to help others lose weight, give to a good cause and improve their own wellness by doing it, surely it’s a win-win-win situation.
