Marriage Could Lead To Weight Gain According To Study

When we consider stages in our lives where we’re most likely to gain weight, we tend to assume that it is during phases such as our teens or early adulthood, when our diets are perhaps not as much of a priority as they are in later life. However, research suggests that you should bear in mind that marriage could alter your image. In a recent study, researchers noted that married couples in a happy relationship were more at risk of weight gain than those in an unhappy union. The study involved following newlyweds for four years to determine the effect of happiness on weight gain.

The study provided some interesting results with regards to the weight gain in couples. Those who were less happy with their partner were found to be more likely to consider divorce, which meant that their weight was more of a priority than it was for happy couples. It was also noted that people in relationships are more likely to compare themselves to their partners when it comes to determining how they feel about their weight. The research carried out shows that self-image and weight is less of a priority the happier we are in our relationships, only becoming a concern when our feelings about our partner begin to shift.

It is important at all stages of life to ensure that you’re eating a balanced diet that’s rich in vital nutrients. You should try to limit your intake of salt, sugar and fats, as these can cause health problems such as heart disease and diabetes, and up your intake of fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds. In addition to eating a diet rich in protein, vitamins and minerals, you should also ensure you’re getting plenty of exercise. Physical activity is important, not only for maintaining a healthy weight, but also to improve your fitness, increase your stamina and boost your vitality.
