Ever since its inception way back in 2014, Xiaomi has predominantly been a smartphone brand. Over the course of years, it has moved on from being just a smartphone manufacturer to a wide scale electronics maker, similar in lines with the likes of Samsung and LG. With that said, the Chinese OEM was not really keen regarding the feature phone market, and never really launched a single device until now. Things are set to change, as Xiaomi has now launched its first 4G LTE feature phone called the Qin AI 4G VoLTE Feature Phone under its crowdfunding platform.
The Qin AI 4G VoLTE feature phone comes with real-time translation support to 17 languages. It can also reply to your questions and tell bedtime stories to your kid. Moreover, the presence of Android onboard means you can easily download just any application on the phone. It’s, however, worth highlighting that the Mi feature phone misses out on support for Google Playstore, which is due to its exclusivity to China. That said, users can still download all the apps, including WhatsApp and Facebook from any third party source.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Qin AI 4G VoLTE feature phone packs a 2.8 inch (320 x 240p) TFT display. It is powered by an ARM Cortex quad-core processor with cores clocked at 1.3GHz each. This is clubbed with 256MB RAM and 512MB of onboard storage. Furthermore, the phone comes with an option for memory expansion via microSD card.
Another highlighting feature of the all-new Mi Qin AI phone is the presence of a hybrid SIM slot, out which one comes with support for 4G VoLTE. This is pretty rare for a feature phone of its stature. The rest of the features of the handset include the presence of a 3.5 mm headphone jack, AC3 1511 speakers, Wi-Fi 802.11 and Bluetooth. Apart from that, an interesting omission from the Qin Ai feature phone is the absence of any form of cameras. The handset features neither a rear or a front camera, which is something pretty surprising in modern day scenarios. Xiaomi claims that it hardware partner decided to omit the camera keeping in the mind the security of the phone users.
