What Is The Ten-Day Soup-er Diet?
Having soup for breakfast hardly seems like an instant culinary classic, but why not? Soup is comforting, satisfying and tasty – it’s the perfect way to start off your day. However, a new diet suggests that you should not only eat soup for breakfast, but also for almost every meal of the day. It’s a ten-day diet that can yield impressive weight-loss results.
The concept of the diet is actually very simple. You enjoy a bowl of soup at breakfast, lunch and then at early evening. You have a small snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon. And finally, you have an evening meal consisting either of more soup or a simple portion of protein with salad or stir-fried vegetables. The protein can come in the form of lean meats, fish, eggs or tofu.
If soup gets a little tiresome in the morning you can have alternatives for breakfast, these include eggs on rye toast and a mini grill of rashers, tomatoes and mushrooms. The snacks that you can have could be anything from oatcakes, Ryvita, salads, hummus, cold meats and fat-free Greek yogurt. So there is actually plenty of variation in the textures as well as the flavours.
As soup is blended food and water it fills us up for up to an hour and a half longer than eating food on its own. The longer our stomachs remain full, the less likely we are to overeat or binge. The soup will improve the way you feel, so soon those chocolate cravings will become a thing of the past.
Making soups can be somewhat time-consuming so it could be a smart move to invest in a soup maker. This can reduce the time it takes for you to make the soup which can always be a little bit of a pain.
While the diet is designed as a ten-day, quick weight-loss diet you can take the concept and apply it to your long term eating habits. You might find that it is a little strange at first, but once you’ve broken your old ways of eating, you’ll realise that soup is actually a fantastic option at every meal time.
