If you’re serious about losing weight then it’s also important you understand which body type you are. There are three body types which were created in the 1930’s and remain pertinent to this day.
Ectomorphic – Part of the small group who struggle to gain weight. Ectomorphs have a quick metabolism and slender body with almost no build up of fat. They often have narrow hips, long legs or a long neck.
Mesomorphic – These people were born to be athletes. They have the potential to lose weight and build up muscle much quicker than either of the other two groups and as such often have wide shoulders, broad hips but narrow waists.
Endomorphic – Sufferers of slow metabolism, these people really struggle to shrug off weight and gain weight much quicker and much easier than anyone else. Their body fat tends to stick around unless they exercise frequently, dieting tends to have much less impact on them.
Each body type has its own pros and cons and none is better than the others. Knowing which group you fall into can help you better plan your weight loss regime. Knowing how you tend to gain or lose weight is a great step towards getting rid of it and then keeping it gone!
