How To Lose Weight By Reducing Alcohol And Late-Night Snacks

When it comes to your weight, sometimes making even a little change to your habits can make all the difference to your wellness. Not only does eating and snacking late at night add on the calories, it also impedes your restful sleep which can further add to your weight gain. As you already know, alcohol isn’t great for your overall wellbeing, but it too can also increase your weight gain due to its high levels of carbohydrates and calories. By simply cutting down, or even eliminating, these two unhealthy habits, you can see your weight and your wellness improve.

Firstly, start the day right and make time for a balanced breakfast that includes carbohydrates, protein and fat. Having enough energy at the start of the day means you won’t overload on it at the end of the day, so get up a little earlier to have a healthy breakfast of eggs, toast and juice or oatmeal and fruit, and get the start to the day you need.

Also, preparation is key to avoiding snacking so make a meal plan for the week to organise your food schedule. This not only lets you know what you’ll cook and eat in advance, but will help you cut down on your shopping bill and wastage. Make sure all your meals and snacks occur before 10pm, and have dinner no later than 8pm. You can stay feeling fuller for longer by eating balanced meals that contain healthy fats and lean proteins such as fish or chicken.

When it comes to drinking, water should always be your beverage of choice. If you feel hungry at night, drink water as often you think you’re hungry when you’re really just in need of a drink. Always keep a glass or bottle on hand throughout the day, but remember especially to have one by your bed at night if the hunger pangs attack. Also, if you want to eliminate alcohol for better weight results, make it inconvenient by storing it in your garage, or don’t have it in the house at all. Reducing the alcohol in your glass with soft drink mixers doesn’t help with weight loss, as fizzy drinks are also high in calories, but you can trick your taste buds if you really crave a drink by opting for non-alcoholic alternatives.
