Can These Winter Warmers Help With Weight Loss?

Comfort food seems to be the only thing to look forward to during the dismal time of winter weather, but though it does wonders for your mental wellness, hot winter warmers that are also good for your weight and wellbeing are hard to come by. However, you can still satisfy you comfort food cravings whilst maintaining your waistline.

Chilli is great for when it’s, well, chilly, but it contains a lot of unhealthy ingredients that don’t do wonders for your weight. Try using substitutions to make these winter warmers a little bit more weight loss-friendly. Use minced turkey beef in your chilli instead of beef, as it is leaner and saves on calories, without affecting the taste – especially if you add a little extra spice. Build your chilli’s depth with garlic and onion, and you’ll also detox your gall bladder and liver, which can help your body run more efficiently and help with digestion.

When it comes to soup and stews, there’s nothing quite like it for a bowl of pure comfort. For soups, use a stock that’s low in sodium, and consider a vegetable stock over chicken or beef because it’s healthier. If you really want that chicken or beef flavour, use a low-sodium bouillon cube, and use coconut milk to build up your soup with a creamy texture, instead of high-calorie and high-fat cream. If that fails, try substituting reduced fat or skim milk to your soup to achieve that creaminess. When you make your stew, use lean cuts of beef and fill the stew with twice as many vegetables. Red meat is ok to eat in moderation, so if you eat stew more than twice a month it might be a wise idea to find a healthier alternative.

Remember that your mental and your physical wellness is important during the winter, especially as summer is on it’s way and it’s bringing bikini season with it! However, if diet and exercise aren’t getting you the maximum weight loss results you should be, you might want to consider adding a vitamin or natural weight loss supplement to your regime to give your weight loss a kick start. However, consult your doctor beforehand to check this is a safe choice for you.
